What is BioSuperfood (BSF)?
BioSuperfood (BSF) is a whole food product composed of four of the most nutrient and phytonutrient dense algae found on earth. Each BSF formula has a different nutritional value. The formulas are presented in capsules that are easy to swallow and practical to use.
What are the ingredients in BSF?
These four algae were selected among thousands of species for their unique properties, quality and compatibility:
- Spirulina Platensis
- Spirulina Pacifica
- Dunaliella Salina
For more details see the individual product pages.
What are the nutrients in BSF?
Nutritional values of BSF?
BioSuperfood is a whole food supplement. Its manufacturer lists as many macronutrients as they have identified. The cost to identify all of its nutrients is prohibitive. Whole foods are not measured like isolated ingredients found in most dietary food supplements. BioSuperfood is not designed to bring about dramatic results within the time it takes to consume one bottle. Whether nutritional values exist as proclaimed by their manufacturer, digestion and assimilation by the body can not be guaranteed. Measurements of nutritional value become less noteworthy when whole foods evaluated in microscopic doses are used on manufacturing instruments calibrated for specifications beyond attributes inherent microscopically.
How safe is BSF? How is the quality of BSF assured?
The BioSuperfood formulas are certified in Canada by Health Canada under the Natural Product certification program for purity, content and quality. Health Canada imposes inspection of manufacturing facilities, and that EACH lot be analyzed for herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals and other pollutants.
Is BSF a raw food?
How do I take BSF?
BSF comes in vegetable capsules that are easy to swallow and practical to take at regular intervals throughout the day.
The two-part capsule can be twisted open to get to the powder inside. Some people like to mix the powder in juice, water or in a smoothie. Some people like the natural taste of algae and they let it dissolve slowly in their mouths or sublingually.
How do I keep the BSF to preserve it best?
BSF will keep for many years at normal room temperature. It is best to keep it away from hot stoves or direct sun exposure. Keeping it in a drawer or cupboard is best. It can also be kept in the refrigerator. We recommend not keeping it in the freezer as repeated thawing may initiate loss of enzyme and nutritional strength.
How much BSF should I consume each day?
For most people, we recommend starting with one or two capsules per day, increasing to six per day. Follow the directions on the bottle, work your way up at your own pace and also trust your intuition. No two people are alike.
What is the difference between the formulas F2 and F3?
The BSF nutritional formulas F2 and F3 were developed in order to accommodate individual biochemistry. No two people are alike. For example, a developing child has a different health state and different resilience, immunity and nutritional needs than; an adult, an athlete, a vegan, or someone with a severe degenerative condition.
All of the formulas contain some amount of the green algae Spirulina Pacifica, Spirulina Platensis, and of the red algae Dunaliella and Haematoccocus Pluvialis. Together these algae provide thousands of nutrients with proportioned nutritional and protectional values. The green algae contain a broad spectrum of proteins, minerals and chlorophyll that have great nutritional value, while the red algae contain a larger amount of mixed carotenoids / antioxidants, phytonutrients and fatty acids that have greater nutritional energy efficiency nourishing the cells of the hypothalamus-pituitary axis.
In the end, the difference between each BSF formula reside within their nutraceutical power. The algae used in BSF are grown in covered bioreactors, where the temperature, turbulence, light, depth of the cultural level, and other factors are unique for each algae and formula of BSF. These conditions in the water are necessary to achieve the different concentration of the nutrients for each algae and thus control the nutraceutical grade of each formula.
What's the difference between BSF and the many synthetic nutritional supplements found on the market today?
BSF is composed of whole, organic water plants that have thousands of both discovered and undiscovered nutrients. These nutrients are fully assimilated by the body without causing toxicity or digestive burden. Often, only a fraction of the content of “health food vitamins” are actually absorbed by the body. Additionally, man-made supplements only contain what the formulators choose to include, and there is no control over mixing with other supplements or the daily diet.
How is BSF different from other brands of algae?
BioSuperfood contains the micro-algae Spirulina Pacifica, Spirulina Platensis, Dunaliella and Haematoccocus for its high concentration of the carotenoid Astaxanthin. You can be assured that BioSuperfood never contains any toxic or contaminated algae since they are grown in controlled bioreactors and not in the wild. Everything from the selection of light, heat, water and nutrients is done under the supervision of Dr Kiriac.
From over 20 years of research, the formulator, Dr. Michael Kiriac, has learned that specific light, heat and water conditions are necessary to maximize the nutrients of algae. The concentration of nutrients in BSF far exceeds that of any other single or mixed algae. This level of technology and purity is the principal reason why BioSuperfood is a breed apart in the algae market. Dr Kiriac's algae are more “nutraceutical” than any other algae and have a much greater potential to awaken the body's own natural ability to heal.
How does BSF work?
Good foods have the potential to nourish and heal. For this healing to be a reality, the nutrients in our food must be absorbed within our cells in sufficient quantities. With poor food choices, aging, and other metabolic deficiencies, this absorption becomes quite inefficient and cellular disease takes over. Due to its extraordinary broad nutrient content and bioavailability, BSF's nourishing potential is much higher than that of ordinary foods and other supplements.
When will I notice a difference?
The beneficial effects of consuming BSF can be experienced within hours of consumption, while the more subtle benefits work to provide long-term protection and well-being. Some people may experience noticeable changes within a few weeks of use while others may notice differences right away or, conversely, notice no effect whatsoever.
While the benefits of consuming BSF may not always be tangible, there is no doubt that its nutrients are working at the cellular level throughout your entire body. As with any other health pursuit, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly in order to reap more of the full, long-term benefits of BSF.
Can pregnant or nursing mothers use BSF?
Yes they may, and as per our instructions on the bottle, we recommend that pregnant women start gradually and work their way up to four capsules daily, while nursing mothers can start and use BSF normally. We recommend that pregnant women consult with their medical or healthcare practitioners before beginning to consume BSF.
I have been taking BSF for a week. I am not feeling benefits yet; in fact, I feel more tired and have had a slight headache.
It is normal when first starting to take BSF that some people may experience symptoms of detoxification, which may include a low grade headache and tiredness. These symptoms are the body's way of releasing toxins. BSF contains an abundant amount of chlorophyll which helps to rid the body of toxins. It is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to help flush out any toxins and prevent symptoms of detoxification.
When is the best time to take the BSF?
For maximum results, we recommend that you take BSF one capsule at a time starting first thing in the morning and continue taking one capsule at 3 to 6 regular intervals throughout the day preferably on an empty stomach.
When I take BSF on a regular basis, should I continue taking my multi-vitamins?
BSF contains some amount of vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K, all known minerals and amino acids, B12, Omega Fatty acids 3, 6, 9, gamma linoleic acid and many carotenoids, which are the best antioxidants. Some people choose to take just BSF while others continue to take other supplements. If you choose to continue taking other supplements, it is safe to take BSF alongside them. BSF has no contraindications with any other medicine, multi-vitamin or food.
Is there too much iodine in BSF?
Iodine is a required nutrient for humans. As far as iodine versus algae goes, the reality is that of more than 65,000 known algae, most do not contain high levels of iodine.
The iodine content of BSF amounts to ZERO toxicity potential, and there are no known contraindications with medications or other foods or supplements. On the contrary, expect positive health support from adding BSF to your diet.
Some algae contain toxic levels of mercury. How do you know that BioSuperfood does not?
The BioSuperfood formulas are certified by Health Canada for their purity and exact content. Health Canada imposes that each lot is analyzed for its nutrient content and verified for heavy metals and other pollutants.
There are over 25,000 different species of algae in the world. Most are found growing in the wild and some beneficial to all living creatures are cultivated by man for consumption; unfortunately many are toxic to some degree due to their habitats or pollutants.
In order to avoid airborne pollution including sun ultra violet damage, the sensitive algae in BioSuperfood are grown in covered facilities called bioreactors where temperature, turbulence and light can be controlled and enhanced. And to further avoid toxicities from oceans, lakes, or open lagoons, pure and mineral rich water is obtained from geysers stemming from two thousand feet below a Siberian volcanic peninsula. The algae are grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and without antibiotics, growth hormones or any additives.
Can BSF vary in color from bottle to bottle?
As a domesticated, hydroponically-grown food, BSF tends to be very stable from harvest to harvest. However, each harvest will yield slightly different amounts of chlorophyll, carotenoids, trace elements or essential fatty acids. Different harvests and amount of time passed since harvest may also result in a difference in smell, color and taste from bottle to bottle.
