Homeopathic Potencies: a Clear Explanation

Explanation of Potencies

Potencies indicate how a homeopathic product was made in the laboratory and how it will work in the body.

The most widely used potencies are denoted by the Roman numerals “X” (decimal; 10) or “C” (centesimal; 100).

Homeopathics are not designed to repress symptoms within the body. Through the use of extremely small quantities of a substance, homeopathics are designed to activate the body’s own ability to heal itself or to express its health.

Any substance, whether it be a food or a remedy, that enters the body must be broken down into microscopic amounts. Once this occurs the body can then transport these microscopic materials into the cells.

With homeopathy, the ingredients are already broken down. During formulation of any homeopathic, each substance is diluted a number of times. Each time dilution occurs the product is shaken (succussed) vigorously. By combining these processes of diluting and succussing, the substance is broken down to microscopic amounts and simultaneously it becomes very energized.
